Lush Kitchen: Gentle Lentil Solid Shampoo Review

As I am growing up and starting to appreciate things that people wouldn't exactly consider interesting. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of Lush's solid shampoos and they're all very eye-catching but when I came across this in the kitchen, I was very intrigued. I heard that the product was originally great for babies as it was so gentle on the head and due to the sunny weather and not being able to use SPF on my scalp, I could really appreciate something soothing and gentle on my head after my scalp drying out in the sun.

Alongside Trichomania, this is one of my favourite hair products. It acts very much like Trichomania as it is a conditioning shampoo as apposed to the other, generic shampoo bars. Gentle Lentil cleanses the hair but as the name suggests, it does it gently which I really enjoy as it doesn't dry the hair out like other shampoo bars might do.

When I first received the product, I noticed its beautiful vanilla like scent and shares it beautiful, soft scent with the Butterball bath bomb. The scent sticks to the hair but isn't too strong which would not deter those who have sensitive skin but is strong enough to stick to the hair throughout the day.

Lentils contain proteins that are known to make the hair shiny and soft which can smooth out tangle in the hair; making it great for baby's hair. And with the addition of the ylang ylang oil, it gives the product its sweet, vanilla like scent.

To use this product, I use it straight on my scalp and I find that it is one of the best lathering products I have used in a very long time in terms of how much I used. I have used the product a few times now  since receiving it and the small chunk I have cut off has barely changed size and I can definitely feel the condition of my hair and scalp becoming a lot more moisturised and healthier. I have only used this product the last few times I have washed my hair with the addition of a little Veganese conditioner on the ends and my hair is feeling better than ever.

I would definitely suggest the next time it is in the Kitchen, that you pick up a piece as it is perfect for so many hair types; like I have thick hair and I have heard this works great with fine, thin hair and hair thats prone to fly aways. The scent is definitely pleasing to anyone's nose and the product does exactly what it says on the label; 'Gentle' cleansing.

Trichomania Solid Shampoo Review

I recently hopped on the coconut oil bandwagon and have instantly been drawn in. I have never really been a fan of coconuts until I started my transition to veganism when I changed cow's milk over to coconut milk. This then gave me the confidence to try coconut oil and I now use it on my tattoo and to remove make up but can also be used for many other uses. When I saw this product in Lush, I wasn't too interested as it's simplistic colour didn't stand out against the brightly coloured shampoo bars. However, when I did pick it up, I was instantly hooked. The smell of this product is beautiful; it has a strong coconut smell produced by the creamed coconut and desiccated coconut use within the product. I picked up a piece with the knowledge that coconut is brilliant for your hair to moisturise and when I tried it, I had found one of my favourite shampoo bars, alongside Gentle Lentil shampoo bar.

After using hair dye on my hair for many years, I definitely needed something that would help the condition of the dyed hair and to maintain the condition of the regrowth and the product has definitely done that. It has conditioned my hair without leaving it with a greasy or silicone-like feel to the hair and it has also taken away any excess grease that was on my hair and scalp.

Creamed coconut and desiccated coconut are known for extremely moisturising the hair and as well as this, the beautiful smell is just an added extra. I thought that because of how moisturising the coconut would be, that maybe the product would not be suited for my hair as it isn't in need of too much moisturising. However, I was happy to find out that it was moisturising enough and helped lift away excess grease.

I found that with this shampoo bar, it is a bit more softer than the other bars due to how conditioning the shampoo actually is. Although, saying this, the product lathered very well and I didn't have to use too much to saturate the roots of my hair. It wasn't a completely bubbly lather, it was a very conditioning lather.

I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a conditioning shampoo as an extra moisturiser before conditioning making this product perfect for those who suffer with a sensitive or dry scalp.

Roots Hair Treatment Review

Roots was one of the first hair treatments I tried from Lush as I wanted volume in the roots of my hair and I loved the smell of this product as it was minty and fresh and if heard it felt cold of your hair when applied and massaged in so I was very intrigued.

Peppermint Oil is used in this product which is known to stimulate the scalp to help hair grow which is what I am currently trying to do with my hair; another reason I purchased this product. As well as the benefits, the scent is very apparent in this product and gives it a beautiful, refreshing scent that stays in your hair.

Extra Virgin Olive oil is also used which conditions the hair and as it contains vitamins similar to the sebum found in our bodies, it helps keep the scalp healthy and moisturised.

The addition of honey also helps moisturise the scalp and is great for sensitive skin as it is gentle on skin that is easily irritated.

To use this product I separate my hair and massage in a palm full of this product into just the roots of my hair. I will massage it in for about five minutes and leave it in throughout the majority of my bath. As I only use this product on my roots, I use Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Ease Hair Treatment on the tips of my hair. I will then wash the treatments out then shampoo the roots of my hair and condition the tips of my hair. This product washed out pretty easy and left my head feeling extremely clean, refreshed and awakened.

Personally, I use too many products on my hair to notice whether or not this product does promote hair growth but I definitely do think that when I use this product my hair feels silky soft and significantly more volumised making this product brilliant for those who have fine or limp hair.

I have currently used about half of this pot in about two months using it every other week giving me around about four or five uses. This means that hopefully, I will get around ten treatments out of this pot which works out around £1 per treatment. I personally like to use a lot of the product so it could last longer is you are a little more sparing with the product.

As this product contains honey, an animal made product, I will not be using Roots hair treatment again despite it being a brilliant product, so I would highly recommend this product who will happily use honey on themselves.
